Established in 2009 by sisters Micol and Sael Bartolucci, Isotrope is a California based design company.
Isotrope was inspired by the yearning to create an aesthetic that would endure over time by incorporating the beauty of natural elements, such as cellular and organic forms into a modern context. The fascination of topography and landscape led to the creation of a collection of tables which are sculptures in, and of themselves.
The wood, with its innate patterning and variation in color, restates and reinforces the vision of the tables, complementing the modern touch of acrylic creating the perfect match to the pieces. Acrylic is also an ideal material to apply patterns mimicking the internal wood structure and its line quality.
The tables are an exploration of “shape within shape” and the possibility of interaction within the piece by changing the order of the modular panels, thus modifying the design of the table.
